Hi,

I'm having trouble finding out anything about a shotgun a friend owns in South Africa.

It is a side by side 12 bore double trigger hammer gun, fairly old and battered (he uses it to shoot Warthogs in the bush) with the usual proof marks on barrel and action but no makers name anywhere, although it does look like there is a "Made In Belgium" on the underneath of the barrels!

He asked me to find out what I could about it on my return home to the UK, and I told him not to use it anymore as it is very loose because the locking cross bolt is missing, his answer was "I've been shooting it like that for years!"........Africaans??

The Flickr link has 9 other photos of medium resolution (I have higher resolution if needed) and any help would be most appreciated.

Many thanks in advance,

Dave

Looks like an unremarkable cheap, mass produced SxS to me.

Almost exactly like my unremarkable, cheap, mass produced SxS that is stamped "Made in Italy"

I think the maker of mine was Stahl.

Why are you "looking it up"?

I'm looking it up because my friend asked me to, he's had it for a long time and would like to know it's history!
