mickmep
hi all. looking for a change of gun and fancy a f3. have a couple of questions that maybe someone can help with. looking for a f3 sporter, not into the luxus version, personal choice. anyways how many different models of these have there been and aproximately how old is each one ? i think that the first ones were silver actioned and had problems with the trigger mechanism or something then there was a darker actioned one which had updated trigger components and then there is the current black actioned professional is this correct ? and would you be wary of buying a secondhand one privately that has no warranty ? cheers. Gordon R
Resale value on Blasers isn't brilliant. The early ones had problems with wear on the action finish - if my memory is correct.
RogerH
I bought my F3 nearly new from Doveridge. Certainly the Mk II versions like mine don't have any issues. I love the way mine handles and the slim action etc. They do come with a 10 yr guarantee which transfers to the subsequent owner.
P~MX
I've had 4 in total and I still have 2 left now, I sold 2 to help buy my Perazzi, I wouldn't sell the Blaser's I've left as I love them, they are superb quality and for the money you can pick up a second hand one for these days they have to be some of the best buy's on the 2nd hand market, my first one was a MK1 model although mine didn't have any problems at all, some of them had issues with the colour of the action pittin/rustin & a sticky top lever, I enquired with Alan Rhone (Blaser) at the time and he's said send it over so they could have a look and make sure everythin was ok so I did and they serviced and replaced the top lever pin and fitted the new barrel selector all for free and I didn't even buy it of him ! I've never had an issue with any of my Blaser's and I'd defiantly recommend one to anyone, hope this gives you some peace of mind .
Dibs
I shoot a 34 inch F3 comp with Muller chokes. Is it the best gun I have owned? - you bet it is. Superb balance and quality. I sold my previous Blaser in a mad moment and never shot anything which for me feels as nice so bought another! Wanted a K80, bought this and chuffed with it. They are the business. Gordon R
I didn't get on with mine - trigger pulls felt different to Beretta or Browning - and sold it. My lad - who mainly shot it - thought it was brilliant and complained bitterly when I sold "his gun". That said - they are very well put together. The finish of the internals, once you take the stock off, is excellent.
mickmep
thanks for the replys. for my next question would you reccomend buying an early silver action one, seen some on guntrader for around the £2000 mark, or have a proper clearout of the stuff i dont use (but looks nice sitting in the cabinet and gives you a nice warm feeling when you open it) and buy a new mk2 with the black action and updates, which will have the 10 year warranty. spoke to open season and they wont honour any warranty only for the first registered owner. which in itself i thought was a bit rubbish as i've got a couple of beretta's i've picked up second hand and gmk have transferred the 10 year warranty over no problem. i'm leaning towards then older around 2007/2008 silver action (and keeping some of my existing tat) which my thoughts are should have hopefully had mechanical updates done by now. sort of hopeing that by avoiding the very early ones it shouldnt suffer the problems with the finish that the very early ones had.
