oscarsdad
I heard of locals who have caught bass on flies by Ferrybridge on the causeway at Weymouth. Never tried it. I know Ferrybridge can a pig to fish because of the current and the weed, but the idea certainly appeals. Considerable local knowledge required I should think. Angling visitors to Dorset should also remember there is a superb angling charter boat fleet operating out of Weymouth, fishing everywhere from Portland Harbour to the Channel Islands. Particularly good wreck fishing. Kimmeridge is a top spot for bass and mullet on the fly as you can stand on the slate fingers which go out to sea and cast into the deeper pools. al4x
Last time we were down at chesil beach the mackerel were just in as confirmed by the billions of polish fisherman fighting for spaces Lovely area, we'd just had a tour as a relative used to work for the owner of rather a large area round Chesil beach, who we also bumped into down there quite rare to meet someone quite as wealthy who is really pleasant. Gimlet
Kimmeridge is a top spot for bass and mullet on the fly as you can stand on the slate fingers which go out to sea and cast into the deeper pools. Good call. I should have remembered Kimmeridge as it was our favourite family seaside spot I when we were kids. Endless rockpools to explore and fossils to hunt. Its also one of the best snorkelling sites anywhere on the south coast, as long as there have been no on-shore winds to stir the shale up and because of the shallow shale beds the water can get very warm and stays warm well into autumn. Excellent spot. The lagoon at Man O' War cove immediately to the east of Durdle Door is a brilliant place for kids to learn to Snorkel and play on inflatables in safety.
