new to the flock
I made one each year that I was at Griffith Island, and then used that call while guiding hunters on the spring hunt. Sorry about the glare. Each of these calls has called in at least one bird to the gun. The slate came off of the old light house keepers house, brought from England in 1891, and the Oak is from a chunk of wood sawn on the old Island mill back in the early 1900's. I found the wood in the old school house remains and planed it down....the 2005 call is the last of it. NTTF

new to the flock
this shot shows the sound chamber. these are a few others I have made, and are my usual working calls. 2 are of oak, and 2 of cherry. One of the cherrys has a slate and the other is just chalk. NTTF

new to the flock
So how do they work then NTTF? LB They are all peg and slate or peg and chalk friction calls LB. You use a peg which you can see in the bottom picture to make the various notes on the call. I liken it to playing a musical instrument..... but Trix says it sounds like when I try to play one of them.....bad Not my fault my taste of music is better than hers Turkey calls, duck calls, goose calls, moose, deer, perdator.......compared to anything that you hear on the radio NTTF
