MG6065
To be honest I wouldnt bother with a silenced one, IMO it's a waste of money. Just get a basic baikal or the baikal stealth. You can pick them up fairly cheaply and they're brilliant guns. What's it going to be used for predominantly?
alendil
close range rabits, jackdows, sqizers, feral pigeons, rats, all up to 25-30m. one problem is noise with unmoderated one that why 12b is to much for the job and for long range rabits and corvids i have .22 and .17 hmr
b16jus
I was watching a guy shooting rabbit clays the other day with a hushpower i couldnt belive how quiet it was almost air rifle pooof noise. I suspect he was using hushpower cartridges too, but overall if you want a quiet pump it was superb and done exactly that J
alendil
and what sort of range he was poping clays at. Btw did any one try steel shot in .410 and how they perform. Thank You Edited November 13, 2012 by alendil
b16jus
i would say approx 30 - 45ft, if you get a chance to see one being used it is unbelivable how quiet it is Edited November 13, 2012 by b16jus

stubby
I too am looking at the mossburg hushpower 410, Ive had pedretti hushpower 410 single shot, great guns, but always felt that one shot was not enough, trying to load a second cart quickly is no good, although they are slightly dearer to buy, I think having those extra 2 shots will make up for it ten fold, I am however looking on the website and like the idea of the detachable silencer for £100, thus a standard mossburg 410 could be purchased (slightly cheaper) and having a removable silencer gives you the option of sub carts or normal

colin lad
i have a single shot baikal 410 and am loving it i too had a problem where noise is an issue and it does a great job mind you you do need the correct shell i found the 3" magnums were way to loud and the 2" went with a bit of a crack but i have found 2 types of 21/2" cartridges that work very well they are the hull 11g 6s and lyvale 14g 7s i was told the reason they are quieter than the smaller 2" is they use a different powder a slower burning powder in the 21/2 as opposed to the quicker burning powder in the 2" dont know how true this is but it sounded right, also the 7s pattern tested better than the 6s, i took it decoying the other day and had a good day with 20+ crows in the bag with some pigeon and a rabbit at a good 25-30 yards though some of the crows did need a quick follow up shot as they hit the ground running colin where are you from if its local to me you can come out and have a go Edited November 13, 2012 by colin lad
86inch
I have a Mossberg Hushpower and it bowls rabbits/hares over at 25yds no problem with Eley 12.5g fourlongs (2.5") #6. I've knocked over rabbits up to 30yds when they remain still. Cracking gun. Shame the cycling action is so noisy, from the firer's point of view it seems noisier than the shots! jackinbox99
I too am looking at the mossburg hushpower 410, Ive had pedretti hushpower 410 single shot, great guns, but always felt that one shot was not enough, trying to load a second cart quickly is no good, although they are slightly dearer to buy, I think having those extra 2 shots will make up for it ten fold, I am however looking on the website and like the idea of the detachable silencer for £100, thus a standard mossburg 410 could be purchased (slightly cheaper) and having a removable silencer gives you the option of sub carts or normal The detachable silencers are not as quiet as a fully moderated gun. Besides, you can shoot both normal cartridges & hushpower cartridges through a silencer without any problems, so may as well leave the silencer on. Cracking gun. Shame the cycling action is so noisy, from the firer's point of view it seems noisier than the shots! Thats my biggest gripe with mine, it gets to the point where you darent pump it as in a quiet field the "rambo" click click seems incredibly loud! is there any problem with this guns. do they run ok over period of time or there are any isues wit them . No problem at all. The basic mossberg is bullet proof and I think one of the few shotguns approved by the US army for millitary use. Ive had my hushpower mossberg .410 for a while now and its a cracking gun. It takes a while to get use to the point of aim with the moderator, so id take it down the clay range for a bit to get used to it. Having 3 shots is handy in the field. Only other thing id say is that the cartridges arnt cheap, so you might be better off getting a 12bore version then you can use normal 12bore cartridges instead. Also, the price of the mossberg is quite high. If you look at 2nd hand prices, you can get a hushpower .410, maybe a baikel one for about 200quid. The mossberg one seems to be 400quid upwards 2nd hand.
