jef
I've bought some Amtico Spacia fooring and plan to start laying it this weekend. I'm a joiner to trade so fairly competent but have only watched this being done a couple of times before. Any tips??? I have 9mm ply overlaid, fixed every 6 inches. I bought feathering compound for the joints and have regular adhesive as well as high temperature. I bought the correct notched trowel with the flooring. All the best JF
evo
little tip,,dont over do it with the adhesive spread it as far as you can as it seaps up through the joints on the tile,,put the adhesive down and spread it until it wont spread no more,,good luck
jasper3
with Amtico.. you may well need a guillotine for the cuts, but if you can't get hold of one, have a hot air gun ..you will need it, and make sure you have NEW blades in your knife Amtico are one of the harder tiles to cut... make sure you mark out your centre line 1st...this will give you even cuts both sides of the room... not knowing what brand of adhesive you have..makes it difficult to advise..but if you have F44.spread the clue and let it go off for 20 minutes (it will stay tacky) with the HT adhesive.you normally have a working time of 2 hrs when you come to the cuts.....this is going to be hard to explain.....ile see if i can find a youtube jobby. www.youtube.com/watch?v=CqejHKcqnG4 i would normally lay a tile on top of a tile to do my cuts any problems..pm me..i am a floor layer Edited November 14, 2012 by jasper3
Paddy Galore!
as above, good advice. the hot air gun helps to soften the tile and make it easier to cut, just don't get it too hot or it'll melt. i did a fair bit for the council this year, silpig will tell ya, i used sticcobond adhesive, spread it out last thing in the day and lay the floor the next morning Edited November 14, 2012 by GRAM71

Yorkhawk67
Hi be careful with amtico. F44 will not stick it properly and when you hear it up it expands as it warms then when it cools it contracts to a smaller size than original. I have been fitting amtico for over 28 years and done properly it's brilliant. Hope this helps. Ps where abouts are you ?
jasper3
you are right about F44 but a lot of these internet companies are sending it out with deals.... same with karndean sounds like james has the right adhesive anyway
jef
I specifically chose the company as they are the only approved web dealer for Amtico. I'd be dissappointed if they supplied me with the wrong gear. Just waiting for the skim coat to go off..... JF
jef
First room done, no dramas to speak off. I did take the sittings off though so made life a bit easier for myself. Very impressed with the tolerances of the Amtico. Kitchen tomorrow. JF
