russdy
how is it off road mate or do you mainly use it on the road ??
bazzashadow
mainly on road but had trouble trying to get it stuck in some clayie, muddy ruts. mates suzuki vitara is better of road. and i have to make this car last so have not pushed it to much yet

four-wheel-drive
Vitaras are great if you can find one that is not rusty underneath you can lift them if you need extra room underneath.
russdy
its not massive off road that ill be doing in it just down farm tracks and fields really wont be doing much mounting climbing in it. dunno if anyone has got any other 4x4s that would be a good shout. Beardo
I have a 54 plate and its good as an all rounder but not brilliant off road, not much clearance and no low gear box. Great on road. If you want to do more serious offroading as said a grand vitara would be a better choice
robbiep
If you don't have an ego ... go buy a Terrano. 2.7 diesel, with a manual box. Now, I know that some people are going to slam what I've just said, but the engine is the same one as they used to use in the london taxis. They have a high-2WD, high 4-WD, low 4-WD box. Shove a set of mud-pluggers on them, and they are 95%+ as good as a defender. At least, I'm enjoying mine

matone
I`ve seen 2 X-trails leave their exhaust back box behind when going over rutted tracks,so you need to be selective about off roading.
russdy
thats what ive noticed mate the box seems 3 inch lower than the rest of the car and watched some videos that said the same about ground clearence not being the best. since a cuple of people have mentioned the grand vitara ive been looking at them aswell and they dont seem to bad priced and people have said there as good if not better than the x-trail off road
matone
Would definitely favour the Grand Vitara myself,a friend worked one up to 160k and it was very reliable.
