gazyapp
Hi all, my better half has really taken an interest in photography in the last year or so. I bought her a top end compact camera last year but it has it's limits. I'm looking to get her a dslr this Christmas and looking to spend around £250. I understand you get what you pay for, but that's my budget and I'm fairly confident I can get a decent starter camer kit for that money I just wondered what your opinions are on different models and which I would be best to go for. Ideally it would include a lense at that price. Thanks for looking
beeredup
i have a Nikon D40x and it takes lovely photos you could probably pic some thing like that up second hand off ebay for that with a couple of lens's too as most photography types all a bit addicted to getting the latest gear so usually a good trade in older models that still take great photos and have been looked after
Muggins.
After much consideration i`ve just upgraded mine. I think with cameras whatever you buy you always want something better within a short space of time. The bay can throw up some bargains at times. JBS
I've been looking for my first dslr recently, I've spent a few hours reading reviews and looking at the deals, the two main options for slightly over your budget are the canon eos 1100d or the Nikon d3100. I thnk I'm going to go for the Nikon as it just felt better I'm my hands, there really doesn't seem to be much in them
jasper3
Don't forget to research the lens..thats what makes a good picture better..... its a bit like a ammo in a rifle..some produce better shots.
Psyxologos
If you can afford a bit more mate, look for a Sony α57. Amazing bit of kit...
Drive By
I got my gf the Nikon D3100 last year for her birthday and she loves it and the pictures look good. Think you can get in new for about £300 now as Nikon recently launched the D3200. I think it's a good one to start out with - I did loads of research at the time and pretty much all sources agreed that was the best starter DSLR.
