garjo
Interesting artcile in todays Telegraph about this: http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/uknews/9714532/Olympic-shooting-champions-practice-range-could-close-in-a-row-over-gunshot-pollution.html
HDAV
More of a battle of wills and wallets than a real issue IMO would be a shame to loose one of the top trap and skeet grounds in the UK bad for the sport mr Wilson could move to Wales and use SW2000......or one of the many other grounds near his current home, you can't shoot DT in "London" since the temp olympic venue was wound up... oh and Bisley is Surrey! Panfried
It will be a travesty if Southern Counties SG closes. I feel sorry for Peter Wilson and the clay shooting sports. He is capable of winning gold in Rio in 2016 and is a great ambassador for shooting. Hopefully Seb Coe can help to give shooting the legacy it's been promised. Salopian
I don't think any of the disputing parties are telling the truth. The ground could easily erect some sort of barrier to stop shot fall out if that actually was the problem. Probably more like sensationalist journalism. HDAV
I think the issue is more complex Southern Counties not so long ago "recovered the lead" and made £££££££££ from the lead that was shot over the ground for years and years, the issue i think is the leaching of lead into the soil rather than it falling on another's land, as its on top of the hill the water runs down the hill carrying some lead particles
Mickthemiller
HI I am pretty sure that there are Trap facilities at Heywood Estate Shooting Ground based at Nynhead, Wellington Taunton ,Steve and Edward Ling, coach there. This may be a bit closer. paste this link http://www.heywoodestate.co.uk/index2.html. Mick
