Fieldsports
I have measured and drawn some plans for the spring guides for my HW80 that I am working on. I can dress the edges myself upon return... The basic design I am looking for is in this set of plans I have made. Please let me know if these plans are workable ! I have a length of Polypropylene Round Bar to supply but if not I would not mind them been made from Brass or something similar. I have included in the plans the guide head thickness from Polypropylene Round Bar as opposed to a metal construction. Just I have no access to a lathe at the moment and need it done quickish ! If anyone fancys helping me on this one and doing the job I will post the Polypropylene Round Bar unless you have a bit of brass handy. In return I can send you my DVD's I have Totally .22 part I, Totally .22 Part II ( Subsonic solution ), Net making and CZ452 stripdown and rebuild. All DVDs will be sent post free ! Thanks Steve Uploaded to my site is the plan below. http://www.shpc.info...uides plans.jpg Edited December 27, 2012 by Fieldsports
sitsinhedges
I would suggest using acetal (delrin) a bearing plastic. When I made mine I found you need a just so fit to get the best out of them. Too tight and they restrict the spring resulting in low power but too loose and they don't give you that deadness to the firing cycle. The spring expands when compressed so you want a nice sliding fit when it's relaxed but not loose. I also seem to recall making one for a HW95 in two parts because the end of the spring guide sits into the trigger block some so it could be made with the straight section having a step on it that a part resembling a delrin washer could be slid down to and then trapped in place by the spring if that makes sense. Is the '80 different?

Is the '80 different? I did ask my mate who runs a plastic factory making s*it loads of stuff for industry. I suggested delrin but he said do not use that and use Polypropylene. He displayed impact tests of both materials and he said that their was no comparison. I did say that most if not all were making these from delrin but he argued and strongly said no Polypropylene is the thing to use. So I took his advice on the matter. Personally I think brass with a Polypropylene / delrin to cussion impact but thats just me. I can slightly modify the end product to not be to tight or slack as in if to long I can shorten a little. But its just a hand in making the basic design I need right now. Thanks for the advice....If my man in the plastic factory is wrong regarding material please say so..I will only tell him and klet him know right from wrong. I am no pro...just a bloke that needs a budget mod done.LOL Thanks Steve

Fieldsports
I am really following the same path sitinhedges..Honest ! Just I am also trying to listen to my placky factory man. I can however get the same size bar of delrin from him as he does not charge me anything. I maybe ned both materials just in case. Thanks again mate Steve
bruno22rf
I would use Phosphor Bronze as its practically self lubricating and ideal for this type oif application.
