Cosd
I'm looking at getting custom hearing protection and have narrowed down to two options I think. Cens Proflex passive http://www.theheadphonecompany.co.uk/headphones/puretone-monitors-cens-proflex-passive-shooting--shooters-ear-plugs-pair.php Emtec Noisebreakers http://shootclay.co.uk/2011/10/25/review-emtec-noisebreakers/ Anyone use these or any other similar priced options, good or bad feedback? I don't want complete sound cut out as I want to be able to hold a conversation without removing them. Off course I know the electronic Cens are the bees knees but can't bring myself to parting £400/£500 for a pair. The Proflex Passive's give me the option to upgrade at a later stage if I want to which is a plus point. Cos
WGD
I have the Noisebreakers, they are ok for a clay shoot or standing on a peg but if you are walking up you hear your own breathing and footsteps more than anything else. If flighting or wildfowling they cut out too much noise. I would buy the ones which give you an option to upgrade... as I reckon that it what you will do in time! Cosd
Having done more reading I'm warming to the CENS Decide colour and book an appointment me thinks!
Will Poon
ACS hearing protectors are great as they don't need batteries and work on a sonic valve that shuts the noise off when you shoot, so you can still hear things around you as normal, similar to CENS at a fraction of the price got my ears measured up at my local hearing aid shop , I think they were about £90 or so and come in a few colours and in about 2 weeks they were ready to be picked up
welshwarrior
I have CENS and having tinnitus and deafness £400 is money I should have spent years ago instead of using a cheap option you get what you pay for CENS are the best and worth the money my wife now has a set so she does not have to put up with the constant bells. You pay your money and take your chances but you won't get your hearing back once it's damaged. And a good deaf aid comes in at 2 grand. That £400 safe then looks a bad deal. Gee.
Another vote for ACS here, cant fault them, use them in competition and in the field. Cost £90 from Boots. I have mates who have the CENs but some love em and some hate em, the ones who hate them say that the sound levelling is fiddly and intermittent and a few of them have even had to send them back a few times for repair. Thats what put me off getting a set of them as its a lot of money and you may get a bad pair. What ever you choose its money well spent as you only get one set of lugholes. KevinClarke
Hi Cos I to have some ACS custom moulded sonic valves and think they are great,as others have mentioned you go to Boots to get a mould of your ear taken(this takes about 20 minutes)and then they get sent to ACS who make them in your chosen colour, and they then get sent to you. If you want the number to call ACS it is 01295266665. I got mine through Ebay, they just send you the voucher that you take to Boots. Hope this helps.
