miffy
Went out the night before last for the first time in weeks. First field we entered was nice big fox which bolted as soon as the lamp went on. A bit of calling and 2 mins later i spotted a fox about 80 yards up the hedge line.......65 grainer was sent on its way. Shot 12 rabbits as well and despite the rain we had a good night. Off out again tonight on dougy's permission to see if we can sort out a troublesome fox

miffy
CHAMPION Good luck for tonight miffy. Frank. Got 2 tonight but didn't pick the 2nd up The 2nd ran after the shot but only went about 30/ 40 yards. It made it into a hedge and showed itself a couple of times. When we got over to where it was seen it could be heard in the thick cover behind but unfortunately it could not be found
Frank
Not to worry mate, it happens to us all. Did you manage to go back this morning to have a look? In situations like this, i find my mates good terrier very handy. Frank.

miffy
There's always the .223 ...................Joking apart as you know I have had the same myself .As hard as you try for that humane kill you're doing well if you hit 90% :yp: Was it pre wedding nerve's I wasn't thinking of the wedding at all Ive but don't tell my missus :yp: A 90% average is a poor average IMHO. Not sure what is going on with this rifle yet but i'll get it sorted asap. Since i've had the .243 i've shot in the region of 50 foxes with not 1 single miss........Until i went onto Dougy's land and clean missed a 150 yard sitter :yp: ( Farmer was with us too so you can imagine how stoopid i felt ) With the .22/250 that i shot before the .243 i shot roughly 400+ without a single miss. Misses do happen but usually i know why i have missed this time i don't. Of the last 5 foxes that i have shot i have picked up 2 Clean missed 1 and definately hit the other 2. I'm gonna try and go to the range now and see what results i get.
