Chris Bb
Just had my Legacy back from its 3 year service. It'll need two new tyres in a month or so but, at 30K miles, I'm not complaining. Currently I have Bridgestone Potenzas fitted and am inclined to go with the same again. The garage quoted £245 each, off the web they seem to go for £160 - £180 + fitting, I'll also phone around a few local tyre fitters. It's that or go for cheapies with lower lifespan & who knows what handling. Anybody else had experience of this type of tyre & where best to buy it? bedwards1966
That's a big price difference, I'd go online and get the same ones if you like them. Just make sure the speed rating is correct when paying less online - it should be whatever the manufacture sets (even if you never drive at 150 mph you still have to have the correct spec tires for insurance purposes). Then take them to any nearby garage and get them fitted for no more than £10 each and enjoy saving a lot money.
Lord Geordie
Before you go for any tyres you havenot had experience with do a REVIEW. Don't just think "they will do" you may live to regret it. I had a set of CEAT fitted at Charlie Browns years ago on my Astra. Would they HELL grip the road first rain and the car went for.an off road experience. They were recommended by Charlie Browns :o I took the car back and was fuming demanding my money back. I took one of the fitters out in the car to show him and he agreed that there was next to zero grip. The manager there said I would have to take.up the refund with head office yadda yadda yadda. I recently needed new tyres on my car. It had Michellin energy tyres on when I got it. It now has a set of Tyres I reviewed on there at a total cost of £165 for the four 175/70/14. Even when we had the bad rain and frosty mornings they have offered outstanding performance for their price! Then when it SNOWED I was knocked back with shock at how well they handle the snow. People were struggling on the small.estate roads and my car just went up the hill no problem. When braking of course I engine brake as well as foot brake but again fab. Even one morning a FOX ran out in front of me. Raining and an outside temp of 1 degree! I stamped on the brake to avoid the Fox but the car didn't skid. They corner well in the wet too so all in all I was happy as larry for their price. The reviews sold them for me as I had never heard of them before. I had reviewed others too but for the money these fitted the bill.
