Strange Day!

Got a call from my land owner that his Brassicas were getting hammered by the pigeons.

Went in today at 10 am, walked off 8-10 birds, set out deeks set up hide and got setledt in. Weather misty- no wind. stayed in situ for an hour, not a bird in site, decided to walk around the perimeter of the land which is bordered on all sides by woodland and little copses. A few birds in sitty trees and caught 2 for not paying attention. Went back to hide nothing- had another walk about and shot1 missed 2. Stayed till 4pm hoping to catch some coming in to roost. Only one bird came in and too far away to get a decent shot. Checked the shot birds to see what they were feeding on...1 had nothing! other 2 had a very small amount of green shoots. I would of thought that the local birds would have come in to the deeks to feast on the Brassica leaves as they have done all over Christmas!!

Walked of over 100 birds last week! I set up and bloody sod all. I even kept the deeks to little groups of birds, just as I had observed them feeding that way, but nothing!

My only conclusion is that the mist was the reason and they just decided to stay put in the trees.
