HDAV
Lovely looking gun, i would get bores measured. Look at these and see if you have these marks http://i357.photobucket.com/albums/oo11/Clermontny/BPH.jpg
Blackpowder
That is an astounding bit of wood youve got there, on a real nice gun into the bargain, as its 20 bore could be well worth getting sleeved barrels to bring it back into real full use. rwade545
Thanks for the comments. Any idea on how i go about getting the barrels sleeved or measured and costs involved. Gun didn't cost me much at all. Regards
Tim Kelly
Great bit of timber and a nice looking gun, but diabolical looking barrels! I'd definitely look at some quotes for getting it sleeved. Can't imagine it being much less than a grand to have it done though. Be very surprised if it was in proof at the moment. Blackpowder
Thanks for the comments. Any idea on how i go about getting the barrels sleeved or measured and costs involved. Gun didn't cost me much at all. Regards Best take it to a gunsmith or rather try several for a proper comparable quote. There appear to be two grades of sleeving from my enquiries last year, the lower one and as I recall from my quote heavier and a higher grade for guns such as yours. It could well be somewhere between £2 and £3000. There again, and I aint no gunsmith, most of the deep pitting seems to be neear the muzzle it might be possible for this to be honed out and still leave enough metal for re-proof. Good luck with it Blackpowder
bigrob
Hi - If you contact John Dickson and son they have all the old Alexander Henry records. If you e.mail them with the number of your shotgun they will tell you when it was built and what grade it is - They won't tell you who ordered it because of past problems. Hope this helps . Bigrob. bigrob
The missing word might be Frederick as this is the name of the street in Edinburgh where the factory was.

I would look at the options for sleeving......and I would regularly be getting it measured........
