fenboy
I am lucky enough to have several hares on my permissions , perhaps because I would rather watch them than shoot them . With the snow covering the ground they seem to be very active and show up easier than usual . I was just looking out of the bedroom window and was amazed to see a large amount of hares gathered on one field a quick count and there was ---------------------------------------- 27 !!!! a incredible sight shame they are a little too far for a photo. mark@mbb
I saw that once they were all in a circle ithought it was some form of witchcraft i walked around a small hill in a field and they were there
kent
Hares often seem to congregate, one day the fields are bare the next they are stuffed with them. Its not always to do with breeding I have seen it at all times of year, love to know some factual reasons why outside of mowing or breeding
scolopax
Hares can get very spooky in the snow, it is as if they know they are much more visible than normal, they tend to spend much more time out and about, often in groups, as opposed to hiding snug in a seat. Whitebridges
The Chimp and I were out for a pint yesterday and they were congregatiing on the high ground on our way over to the pub. Snow covered fields with loads of paw marks. I'd guess they were looking for a bit of ground where the snow had been pushed off by the wind.
