ging125
I am starting to look into buyin a second hand 223rem for fox and vermin. Probably a Remington 700 SPS, Tikka T3, CZ 527, Browning X or A Bolt or Ruger M77 or American. What should I be looking to avoid in this calibre in terms of wear?I know that it is'nt a "barrel burning" round as per say. What budget should I be setting as a minium for a gun in good condtion? I was think around 300-400 gun only. Cheers in advance
Livefast123
You could get a Howa 1500 brand new for a little bit more than £400, I have one and find it excellent.

ging125
Already have a Howa 1500 in 243, happy with it but don't like the factory stock it came with and don't want to invest too much in this gun as it will b a rough gun! There are a few a bolt about for £350 so a definite option, just wondering about what wear to look for on a second hand gun.
al4x
Short of getting it bore scoped there isn't much you can do other than try and shoot it. My last .223 was a remi 700 second hand, I bought from a small dealer and it was a cracker, only sold it as it wasn't being used once I got a .

wildfowler.250
Second hand sako 75 personally Think the best you can do is look at the general condition of the gun if you can't bore scope it.
