chrisjpainter
So, after wanting one for ages, I finally picked up a Mk2 S10 today, but when it came to charging the bottle, it seems to leak air out of it before I even get round to filling it up. I've read the manual several times through and done everything it says, but I get the hiss of air running for the hills when the bottle is off the gun. There's no air escaping when it's attached, but when it's not connected it just empties itself of all its air. Any ideas what I can do to fix it? stubby
are you filling with a bottle or pump?

secretagentmole
Sounds like you need a new valve, you can try whacking the filling valve open completely on the diving cylinder when you try filling it. A gunsmith will be able to fix it! New valve here! http://www.bestfittings.co.uk/shopexd.asp?id=
bullet boy
Chris like the gents have said above it looks like you need a new valve bud. ATB.
turbo33
As above. If it looks like a ball bearing in the top, they are notoriously bad for sealing failure as they trap dirt. If it is, let all the air out, you might have to depress the ball pushing a punch or similar into it. When all the air is out push the ball in and out rolling it if you can. If you have a compressor or dive bottle, try and blast some air at the valve. It may just clear the grit or whatever is holding it off the seat. Then as said a really good blast to fill. The bad news is once they pack up, generally they're us, but its worth a try. If the valve looks like a small rod, it will in all probability be the small "O" ring thats broken. Its the one on the clear piece of delrin in the best fittings link. If you are reasonably competant in the workshop, removing the old valve unit and replacing it with the rebuildable one is easy enough. Its worth doing if you plan toi keep the rifle as the "o" rings go so often. Happy to talk you through it if you want to pm me. Get it from Dr Bob. He's a top chap to deal with. He might even fit it for you if you ask. Make sure you get a few spare "o" rings for the valve when you order. http://www.drbobsgunbits.com/page7.html
chrisjpainter
it's being filled from a dive bottle. I'll give it a blast with some air and then have a look. Rebuilding the valve looks pretty straightforward? will give it a whirl at the weekend when I have a good long run at it if cleaning it out doesn't work! Might be worth getting the new valve anyway. As i said the whole thing was a pretty cheap deal, so i've got a bit of cash to splash on getting it working properly
chrisjpainter
Right, the new valve has arrived...looks pretty easy to set up and that's great, except for one small thing. How do you get the old one off the bottle? is it a case of brute strength or applied heat or witchcraft?
secretagentmole
heat the bottle gently I would guess, then some brute strength. I would guess they threadlocked it ruddy tightly to keep 232 bar in! My spaniel has just stuck his paw in my pocket!
