Jim c
hi ive not the ns200 set up and been using it on my 22. last night i used it on my 17 and found that as i zoom in on the scope the vision looses all picture? exactly the same scope on both rifles only reason i can think of is that im looking at rabbits alot further away with it? Another thing i find with it is that its harder work as such to work with than a lamp ? thanks jim
mick miller
'... the vision looses all picture?' Do you mean the monitor turns off or you cannot see anything clearly, or the image is all blurred?
Jim c
can see a rabbit then as i zoom in loose clear vision and its almost like the rabbit turns dark and no longer visable enough for a shot. thinking maybe keep ns200 for 22 and airrifle and lamp with
mick miller
Righto, what mag are you trying to go up to when you zoom in?
Fisheruk
I find these things work best at relatively low mag say 4-
mick miller
Exactly right, I never go above 10, to do so restricts the amount of light reaching the camera. Also, focus the camera to infinity OFF the scope on daylight, this will maximise the light gathering potential. Some scopes are better than others with the nite-site. I find MTC are some of the best. More expensive scopes have coatings designed for daylight light gathering that work against you at night with an add-on. Finally, to get the best results your scope should feature parallax adjustment.
Jim c
ok cool guys cheers least now i know that high mag is a no no
mick miller
Last time I was out I was head shooting rabbits at ranges between 90 and 120 yards on 10x. You shouldn't need more than that, and less is better.
Jim c
ok mate cheers does any one find it hard work using it? moving it and the rifle around looking for eyes
mick miller
Not really, spot on a low mag, then wind up to your chosen mag to take the shot. Everything on mine fits on the rifle. I never used the house brick that it came with. I also use a cobra/Merlin dsa rather than the rubber sleeves which keeps everything rock solid.
