Alecheywood
Do you need wind for decoying over crops? What about temperature?
fenboy
No you don't need wind as for temperatures , I have shot good bags in snow right up to red hot , all you need for good decoying in being on the field the birds want to be on . motty
As above. I like minimal wind when decoying.I also like it nice and warm when i'm shooting, can't beat shooting in short sleeves.
David 686
I like a strong wind just because it keeps the birds flying / moving. But you can decoy in any weather. I wouldn't decoys in heavy rain as the pigeons will sit up in the trees till it stops. And all your going to do is get wet. Cheers keep them dropping

cocknee
I personally prefer a breezy overcast day but the conditions can be perfect on the days you do your reconnaissance and totally different on the day you are able to shoot work / family commitments allowing. I don't get out as much as I used to now but I remember going out midweek looking for one or two feeds for Saturday / Sunday only to be disappointed by rain or a complete change in wind direction come shoot day.
