wildfowler.250
So I know this has popped up a few times but with the new eley lightening stuff on the shelf as well as Remington and gamebore I just thought I'd get the general consensus and then stock up for next season. Am I right in thinking the remington nitro steel in a large shot size is the most popular for geese? And the Gamebore stuff in like a 3 for the ducks? Or does the lightening steel win anyone over? anser2
I am unable to buy Eley lightning in my area , but for geese 3.5 inch Remmington Nitro steel or Winchester in BB or better BBB with a full after choke works well for me and Gamebore 3 inch in no 3 for most duck or for highish mallard Remmington 3.5 inch no 2s. I have fired a few of the New Eley 32 gr steel in no 5 , good for close shooting over flashes , but range is limited. I have also done very well over flashed with RC atomic 34 gr load in 3s. misser
i tried some 3 inch eley lightening and found them very good on the geese - personally i thought they were as good if not better than the remington 3 inch - just my opinion probably get torn to pieces now - atb - regards
Donkey
I have used the lightning loads in 32 - 36 g shot size 3 on duck and got on very well with them I have not patterned them yet but in the field mid to long range shots they are as good as my 2 3/4 hevi shot loads On flight ponds and splashes I have not had the best success on closer birds which suggests they hold the pattern very well
