bicykillgaz
I wear Meindl Burma pro mfs's, had mine for 18 months and they are pretty much the only thing I wear. I wear them as my everyday footwear weather it be for walking to the shop, dog walking, shooting or hiking in the lakes. I'm just about to get mine re-soled as I'm fairly heavy wearing on the rear outer edges of the my heels but the rest of the soles are fine. I will eventually upgrade to the Dovre extremes for shooting but at the minute the burma's and a pair of gaiters can handle pretty much anything you'd expect a boot to take so I'm in no rush. straightshooter1
I don't think you would go far wrong with anything from Meindl. Although i did read that because many of there boots are quite unforgiving they aren't the best for long duration treks, but i think by that they meant some serious hiking not beating. :good: I have had a pair for years now and they just keep going
NickP
Ive got Lowa desert elite for summer and Lowa Patrol for bad weather/winter. There outstanding bits of kit, incredibly hard wearing and so so comfortable. The Patrol are all gore tex so warm as ya like and incredibly water proof. Desert elites are superb for warmer dry weather although they do keep ya feet warm too in colder days. They both have vibram soles which are bang on grippy as ya like. What are the sizes like on the Lowa Patrols? Like the look of them, the Lowa Combat GTX Boot, or the Lowa Mountain GTX Boots Don't know of a stockiest in leeds, but don't want to order something too small/large online and mess about sending back etc

Go for the Hanwag Special Forces over Lowa's. They don't have a half shank in so much lighter, grippier sole and far more comfortable. I've just replaced mine after two years of use at work including lots of field time (soaked through), 30 milers and day to day use. I've had two pairs of Lowa patrols and the Hanwags are far better in my opinion. Greg.
