ratus
Morning Guys have a question, I bought (on a whim) 5 tyres on Friday hoping they'd fit on to me Disco but they look a bit to narrow The ones fitted to my Disco are 235/70/16R Will the 108/106N (7.50) fit onto those rims that are on my Disco? If not what size rims would I require and any mods needed? Many thanks Ratus
Marki
I'm no expert but a quick work out says that a 235 tyre uses a 8" rim. In theory I'm guessing that your rim might be a bit too wide. I have heard of landys using 235 as a replace for 108/106 but that is obviously the other way around.
ratus
Cheers appreciate your time, I'm sure someone will know
Gilberts1989
Yeh they will, I have 265/75/16 on rims that had 7.50 on them before. They will be fine I know that's the other way round but it will be fine
neil82
not very helpful but the 108/106 is the load index, nothing to do with the size of tyre nor rim
ratus
Guy's, Thanks for your help, just need to find x5 rims on Fleabay and get them fitted (oh and tubes). Cheers Ratus
PhilR
You are aware that Disco 1 and 2 wheels are different and won't fit each other.
TaxiDriver
If you look at the wheels you want to put the tyres on, Either on the outer lip, or the rear of the face between the bolt holes you should be able to find the wheel size eg 7x16J As someone else has stated 106/108 is the load rating and Not the tyres size of the other tyres. IF they are 7.50x16 then they are cross ply and have different handling characteristics to radials hence why they shouldn't be mixed, They could however be 750R16's in which case they're radials. The other point I'd caution you to check is the overall diameter or height, A 235/70R16 is a wider tyre but with a reduced profile(sidewall height). By comparison a 750x16 would equate to a 235/85R16 750x16's or 750R16 or 235/85R16 can have problems with fouling of bodywork
ratus
PhilR, Had a feeling there was a different wheel between the Disco 1 & 2, was looking at the old 110 wheel, as an option but will probably have same problem. glb8686
110 wheels will fit disco 1 fine. We'll, anything from a series up will for I think, rangie classic will do also
Gilberts1989
Guy's, Thanks for your help, just need to find x5 rims on Fleabay and get them fitted (oh and tubes). Cheers Ratus Why do you want tubes? I take it your not going to be running bead lockers and your tyres on low pressure Also look at this link with regards to tyre size for a disco http://web.archive.org/web/20100810045805/http://www.members.shaw.ca/jbarge/tires.html
