Big Marty
My Terrier has a sticky looking eye and looks blood shot..Should I just put drops in it or should I take him to the Vet ?
oscarsdad
How old is he? Mine had blocked tear ducts as a pup so had eye snot every morning which I had to clean but as his skull grew it sorted itself. (Rather that the vet I quote "having a go" at the unblocking surgery!!!) How long has he had it? (The stickiness, not the eye)

oscarsdad
I'm no expert but I'd say worth a vet trip then.
al4x
What drops have you got? It could be a straight bit of conjunctivitis or could have something in. The redness suggests possibly the latter or its got scratched so may be worth a vets trip just to check. Human eye drops with chloramphenicol in wouldn't do any harm tonight and might if it is conjunctivitis improve things till the morning
WGD
Mine get conjunctivitis now and again, I just keep them clean and provided the dog is showing no discomfort it sorts itself out. If it is really swollen or discharging a lot in a short space of time then off to the vet.
