Marki
I'm in the market for a cheapish air rifle and have seen a Edgar Brothers (Hatsan) Model 105 .22 for sale locally for £70 in camo. Is this price about right? I cannot find much info on the 'net so any advice would be helpful. I'd like to use it to introduce someone to shooting game, not over a great range but between 20-30yds. It looks like it'll take a scope but can anyone tell me if it will take a moderator? Thanks.
Capital Bee
It's also known as the Hatsan torpedo. As it's an underlever, you may struggle to find a moderator to fit it. They are full power air rifles though. It's got an unusual breech bolt mechanism for fitting the pellets if I'm not mistaken. I'd check on spares availabilty with Edgar Bros as well if I were you. NIGHT SEARCHER
Full power under lever Rifle running around 11.5 ftlb good hunting rifle, Fixed barrel with a pop up breach loading very accurate (ie) fixed barrel. They were sold new from £200 to £299. They are a bit twangy but most Synthetic stocked Springers are bar HW. For £70 it`s a bargain. Yes it will take a scope and a Silencer. Have a look at www.airgunpellet.co.uk for a Silencer and pellets. The 105 is an earlier rifle than the Torpedo. And has a pop up breech that has two 0 rings front and back of the pop up breech block. Is the rifle you are looking at the one on GUNSTAR in camo for £70 in Stafford if so break his arm off it`s a bargain. Marki
Thanks for the info. Yes it is the one on Gunstar. It's about 8 miles form me so probably worth a look if nothing else. Is there anything in particular I should be looking for apart from obvious damage? I had a look on the site but I cannot work out what silencer would fit? Guess I could give them a call. NIGHT SEARCHER
If you can have a shot or two with it just to make sure there`s no undue noises like scraping from a broken or bent spring has you cock the gun.Check the stock for cracks but that`s more on wooden stocks. Fitting a Silencer might be a bit of a problem it may need an adapter or have the end of the barrel screw cut to 1/2 unf. The problem is the the front sight is part of the under lever catch. The older HW 77 and HW 97 have the same problem and have a special Silencer that leaves the front sight on the gun. What is the gun being used for hunting if so and to be honest the noise a springer with a synthetic stock makes is it worth the expense of a Silencer and a adapter. Screw cutting a barrel is around £25 to £30. Edited March 15, 2013 by NIGHT SEARCHER
Marki
Bought it for £60 Pleased with it for the money. I've put about 20 pellets through it and the power seems fine, as far as I can tell. It was burying the pellet in a piece of decking from 15-20 yds. I see what you mean about the noise! I think you're right about leaving the silencer off. I just need to find a scope and bipod. Thanks again for the advice.
