TEMPER
Hi guys. What's my options for blank firing from either 12 gauge or .410 for dog training. Have RTO gear for both calibers or could I modify a spent case to fit a .22 blank? If I remember rightly last time I looked 12 bore blanks were silly money. Any advice greatly received. Regards TEMP. steve_b_wales
I would just remove the shot from the cartridges and just fire them. You shoud still get a big enough bang to train your dog/s.
casts_by_fly
Temp, I have some blackpowder blanks for 12 ga here. They sound like a regular cartridge. Bought them for the same purpose and ended up only needing 2 as the dog loved the gun from the go. Look for saluting blanks or yacht blanks. They are dirty though and blackpowder is acidic, so you have to clean each time you use them. Rick

Don't do this! I have and the wad often stays in the barrel, its just not safe enough
aris
Just take your dog to the local clay shooting ground :-)
kent
Just take your dog to the local clay shooting ground :-) very bad plan it trains nothing, ruins a few and only confirms the dog was not gun shy when you first got there at the most
