Gun Watch
Unknown Muzzle Loader £120 20 gauge Shotgun Private Seller Used - Poor Condition Newport, Shropshire Hammer, -, -, 28" barrels Description This is an antique muzzle loading percussion cap shotgun, about 20bore, converted from flintlock (you don't need a licence!). It's a pretty gun with the striping in the stock. It has a piece of horn at the forend. The barrel seems very solid, but the lock doesn't hold. It's an attractive wall hanger. Email me for more pictures. Will post for £10. The seller of this gun doesn't appear to be a Pigeon Watch member, to contact them please use the details on Gun Watch. bruno22rf
I'm confused-why no licence?
welshwizard
Antique I would imagine due to age, and therefore only requires licence if used . As per below Edited April 1, 2013 by welshwizard
Coney Basher
Any pre 1939 muzzle loading gun is exempt (under section 58(2)) of the provisions of the 1968 Firearms Act. This means that you can possess one without the need for a shotgun or firearm certificate, if you have it as a 'curiosity or ornament'. If you intend to fire it then it must be brought onto the appropriate certificate beforehand. Section 58(2) also applies to certain pinfire, rimfire and centre fire calibre firearms and shotguns. demonwolf444
coney beat me to it, section 58 is no licience. Ive always wondered if you can buy a sect 58, restore it if neccisary and re proof it and stick it on your SGC of applicable.
