Mungler Posted April 8, 2013 Report Share Posted April 8, 2013 (edited) I'd go high. IIRC there's not enough clearance to fit even flip up lense covers with medium mounts. Besides, some medium mounts come up small and some mediums come up generous. In my shooting tool kit I must have at least 8 sets of scope mounts and rings that I have as spares that I have bought, haven't worked for whatever reason and that I have kept because I couldn't be bothered to take them back. Whatever you hope or plan for, it will go wrong so buy small, medium and high to cover all eventualities. My worst one was a Bruno rifle (hornet). The scope / mount arrangement was so peculiar coupled with a large objective scope - well the long story short was as excited as I was to take delivery of the rifle it was another 2 weeks before the gun shop got the necessary and entirely peculiar scope mounts in and before I could properly give it what for. Most irritating. Why oh why doesn't everything come with weaver rail as standard? You know where you are with that bad boy and you get the extra bit of lift and clearance for wide objective scope lenses that anyone with a x56 so craves. I digress. Yeah, Mounts are different, also scope type/length, front/side parallax, eye relief, barrel thickness, barrel fall off, Butler creeks, etc., can/do, all effect the mounts required. I have plenty of spare mounts, but somehow never seem to have the right ones when I change, or buy new scope/rifle. al4x Posted April 9, 2013 Report Share Posted April 9, 2013 Why take a chance with the medium Just get the high and be done with It simply because the closer to the center of bore height the better, you need someone with the same setup to tell you, I'd be tempted to get the mediums but from somewhere I knew i could take them back to then you are sorted whichever way.
