aris
It seems scuba divers use a lot of lead shot for ballast. You can buy it off Amazon :-) might even be able to reclaim some from a boot sale find. Is it suitable for reloading? I'm thinking shot is shot, or is it? sitsinhedges
Likely to be soft, and oxidised if already used for diving.
aris
What if it is new, but made for diving!
sitsinhedges
What if it is new, but made for diving! Likely to be soft. Why waste money on hardeners on a product that doesn't require them? Probably wont be graphited either or any cheaper than proper lead shot for reloading. Andy H
It will be soft be prepared to scrub some good lead streaks from your barrel.
turbo33
I was given a load by a friend who stopped diving. The sizing is all over the place, so thats another reason it would be unsuitable I guess. Also it seems to be as, if not more expensive than commercial shot. Edited April 15, 2013 by turbo33
SPARKIE
I've just been looking for a post I started about 5 years ago but cannot find it. I was into reloading shotguns and had a dive shop at the end of my road at the time lead shot from the shop was quite expensive about £7 a kilo but while I was having my air gun tank filled I noticed they sold lead shot at about £3 a kilo so bought them out of it while there.....I then told everyone on here my finds and that it was odd shapes and sizes but man did it kill pigeons.....guess what happened everyone who reloaded started going to there local dive shop. Next time I went in to buy some the price had shot up and was as expensive to buy as getting it from the gun shop.due to the fact everyone was going to the dive shop to get there led.The lad behind the counter told me they had a surge of people buying it for there reloading. after that it wasn't cost effective to reload so when I run out I sold all my gear. so yes it may be softer and odd shapes sometimes but yes it works very well on pigeons but if you do find some cheap id keep it hush hush.
