sandersj89
New rifle and just trying to see if this is good or not.... I have had an Air Arms A410 for a few weeks now and have been fiddling around with its set it up. So far fired about 200 pellets. Recently I downloaded a few rifle targets and set one at 30m and did 10 shots, 5 at the large target and 1 at each small target. No idea if the scale of the targets was right but I have included a coin for reference. I was standing and simply resting the rifle on a pair of sticks. I simply popped of 10 shots in about two minutes trying not to move my feet too much. I was pleased with the result but is this a good result? On the large target I got 4 shots almost on top of each other and then the 5th shot was a bit wild....grrrrrr On the 5 small targets all shots in the black center with one dead bull. Just all a little right. I shot rifles a long time ago when in the Cadets and have shot shotguns ever since I was a young lad. (And mainly shoot with a shot gun now, pest control, rough shooting and driven game). The recent purchase of an air rifle has reminded me of how different the 2 disciplines are! lurcherboy
The rifle is legendary regarding accuracy. With a bit more practice you will put pellet on pellet. Keep up the practice mate  LB
tiercel
I do not do any rifle shooting as such. But I have noticed that all your shots are to the right of the center of the targets. There are enough informed people in here to tell you how you can correct that. But it is still good shooting. Tiercel

Tiercel At the moment I am not too soncerned that they ar slightly right as I am looking for consistancy. If they stay like that then I hope it is a simple adjustement of a click or two on the scope. Thanks both though, I was hoping it was an OK result. Jerry
kip270
Nothing wrong with those shots at all. Just a fine tweak of the scope to be dead centre. What pellets are you using?? Make sure you try others, because you will find one that will suit your rifle better than others  When you zero it, try to do it from a bench or a more stable shooting position, and then once zeroed try again from the sticks
pin
Excellent consistency which is very important. It might be worth considering a few things. Some of the shots are consistently low, without seeing you shoot there are loads of reasons this could be. Assuming you were aiming for the centre of each target and not compensating for poi. A slightly "snatched" trigger pull will generally lower the poi, much more pronounced in air weapons because of the relatively slow lock time and internal ballistics. The consistent right sided poi could be part of the same issue, or it could be a slight flinch. Worth doing a lot more practice shots before you go adjusting anything, but on the various 410's I have owned I have generally softened down the trigger pull which helped correct similar issues for me. Not a criticism, they are good shots and great grouping at a reasonable killing distance for your rifle
njc110381
That's pretty good shooting at 30m. If you bench zero it then you will be able to get it spot on. It's very easy to pull shots to the right when you pull the trigger (right handed), so depending on the results of the bench test you'll know whether or not that is the case. If it's a new setup, it's more likely that the zero is slightly out, but worth checking

Thanks for the tip on zeroing, I am awaiting a harris bipod delivery! Jerry but on the various 410's I have owned I have generally softened down the trigger pull which helped correct similar issues for me. Could you give me more details on the trigger adjustment? For info it is a brand new 410 with the safety on the trigger. Thanks Jerry
blackthorn
owned a few air arms rifles always had the trigger set to single stage and light, i will ad i did not let any body touch my rifle.it was set for my way of shooting. try a trigger shoe, it spreads the Waite of the pull, good air rifle you've got there kid
