im just in the throws of picking up a silverpigeon for clay shooting, but i am slightly contemplating a 682 E Gold now instead, it comes in at about £500 more than the S/P, anyone use one is it worth the extra money??, long term the extra money is irelevent but dont want to think i should have just gone for it over a silverpigeon.

i know they have a different barrel design and come with optima chokes etc, but does it really make any difference..

cheers

H

I've used both and prefer mine (silver pigeon game) because it's lighter and I find it easier to point. The optima chokes on the sporters are supposed to throw slightly better patterns, and they also have longer forcing cones to reduce shot deformation I think. If the mobil chokes on the game guns were that much poorer for patterns, I'm sure beretta would scrap them and just use optima to be honest. Both are good guns, buy the one that's most comfortable, and not the best looker!

If all you are going to do is bust clays the buy the 682 Gold E they are superb guns, although not as nice as my F3.

If at any time you think you may do some rough shooting then I would get the Silver Pigeon as it is probaby lighter and more suited to being carried all day.

Having said that get the one that suits you best, the one that feels right. :stupid::stupid:

Suggs,

Don't forget that some of the silver pigeons come with the Optima bores, so the choice isn't as clear cut as you thought.

I have a 682 and friends have 682s and Silver Pig 3 sporters all with Optima bores, I would be tempted for a Pig 3 Sporter if I hadn't already got the 682. The breaks from the extended factory chokes are very impressive. Obviously a Sporter will be heavy compared with a Game gun, but my 682 (and the Pig 3s) is still quite light.
