30-6
On a Beretta with an oiled stock and fore-end how do you care for it? What product do you use? How often is it done? Do you need to remove the stock and butt pad? Does it need doing?
Dunkield
I wouldn't do it unless it is looking dry, or it is taking in water. You can use one of the aftermarket stock care kits, I have used CCL, but also used plain linseed oil as well with similar success. The trick is to use a tiny amount and work it in with your hand so the warmth helps it into the wood - don't soak it, that will do more harm than good. BobGee
I always use the CCL "Fine Wax Polish" a couple of times a year. Put on a very thin coat, let it dry for 20 mins (dont put it on the checkering) and then polish with a soft duster. Once a year, preferably in the summer time, rub the wood with a little of the conditioning oil from CCL, again you only need a few drops for the whole gun. Rub it in with the palm of your hand until it has all disapeared, if the gun feels sticky the next day--you've used too much!!!!
invector
I use artist's grade linseed oil, sparingly! Keep it out of the checkering and rub until your palm is quite warm. The secret is to use very little oil and to rub it in until dry.
