PhilR
If the serial number begins with a 'K' it'll have been built in the Kodensa (sp) factory in Japan.
Scully
Can find no reference to any model 400 in any of my books, and those 101 variants made in Spain don't have this model number either, but on-line consensus appears to favour Japan. TDS
it is a win 101 in another guise... originally made for American market under the name of "Ted Williams 400".. apparently Ted Williams was a famous baseball player that scored 400 runs...gun made in his honour... just called the 400 for the Euro market... some info here http://www.shotgunworld.com/bbs/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=165465

TDS
The only Winchester branded guns that Laurona built were the Model 91 O/U and the Model 22 side by side... both made in Spain and so marked on the barrels The 400 was made in Japan by Olin Kodensha /Winchester
