sitsinhedges
They're a bit clumsy and the barrel can be cold to hold but they open up a lot of opportunities due to their quietness.

Sorry for dumb questions but i know zero about these ! Mine is a 20gauge over and under. I posted a pic of some pigeons I shot with it tonight in Sporting Pictures. I find it as effective as any other gun but others dislike them. I would hate to be without it.
robbiep
You can get them for 12 bore, 20 bore and .410. A good place to go is to http://www.saddleryandgunroom.co.uk/Gunroom/SG_Hushpower.htm plenty of info, prices for new guns, what can be modified, even videos so you can hear the difference ! jackinbox99
Ive a hushpower 410 pump action mossberg. Advantage - well, 3 shots so handy if lot of rabbits / birds about, and yes, they are very quiet. If you are in the middle of a field, id liken the noise to someone sneezing. Maybe as loud as a springer air rifle. First time I fired it I was really taken back by the noise. If you are against a farm building or a hedge, then they can seem louder as the noise seems to ricochet. I know a few guys who shoot them from quads and get a good result when out lamping. They hold their value as they are very sought after. Ive not seen prices of any of the hushpower guns dropping 2nd hand over the last few years. Disadvantage - the pump action at least makes a hell of a rambo style "click click", which when out lamping in a quiet field at 2am seems louder than the actual noise the gun makes when you fire it. Also, the pump action is a very long gun, as the moderator can only go back to where the barrel bolts to the magazine - so it feels a bit strange when your using it. Also, the point of aim on the hushpowers takes a bit of getting used to. People tend to shoot low on them for a start due to the size of the silencer / moderator. All in all, they are good guns for a certain job. Price wise, you`ll be paying about £250 for a 2nd hand single barrel 410 hushpower - the baikel or pedretti ones. The pump action like mine seems to normally be about the £400 mark 2nd hand. If you are thinking about getting one, id try and find someone locally whose got one so you can hear what its like. Id nearly be tempted just to buy one 2nd hand and try yourself, as if you dont like it you will definitely get your money back on it and not loose a penny. Key thing to remember is, it doesnt matter how loud it sounds when you fire it, its how loud it is from a distance away. Ive heard people say they have been shooting pigeons in a barn with one, and after a while the farmers come out of his house wondering why they havent shot anything as he hasnt heard any noise.
