Sea Fishing advice?

Well myself and a couple of mates are going to west coast Scotland for a few hours tomorrow afternoon to try for pollock. I've only really fly fished but can use a spinner,(not much technique to it  ). Has anyone got any tips to try and help me land something? I think it's a jelly eel lure that my mate tends to use although ill probably take a few spinners.

I know its a fairly open question but any useful advice is appreciated :good:

If all fails I'm hoping there might be mackerel as a backup!

good advice mate - must have helluva cast to hit the sea from the centre of england!:lol:

Yep, saltwater fishing is not happening at the moment with fuel prices. I have had bonefish, permit, barracuda, kingfish, tarpon, jack, bonito, remora, blue runner, cobia and a 400lb bull shark this year, but all from Tobago and Florida, no UK saltwater fishing yet lol!

Yep, driving 350mile round trip to Chesil to catch a 6oz whiting in a howling gale is not so appealing lol!

I am looking forward to getting some saltwater fly fishing or light lure work in this summer though (if we have one).

Used to fish a lot off the West Coast, used to fish Stranraer and Cairnryan. For Pollack we used to floatfish Sandeel, (it was that rocky if we spun we would get snagged every other cast), used to fish with Mike Watson (The Orca), clever Captain, clever fisherman. Used to take the dogs/ferrets up as well. One Monday came back with Tope, Dogfish (Lesser and Greater, Pollack, Coalfish, Conger (45ib), fox, Rabbits, Roe and Hare. Used to love the Plaice fishing because the Ferries to Ireland meant that the trawlers weren't allowed, (the only sandbanks where you can find fish)
