chrish
Hi, I’m after some advice on binoculars for general pigeon and quarry location. I have a budget of around £150. I feel they need to be fully waterproof and generally robust. I have been told that magnification of around 8x is enough as too much more makes visual location difficult. At the moment I am looking at the Bushnell Trophy 8x42, a link giving a good description of them is http://www.bestoptics.co.uk/ishop/1017/shopscr119.html Any comments ? Any alternatives in my sort of price range you can recommend ? Many thanks Chris
Dunkield
Have a look at the Avian range, ACE Optics down in Bath do them, also don't rule out secondhand bino's as long as they have been looked after. Ace and The London Camera Exchange both do secondhand stuff. 2 of my mates use Bushnell Legends and they are very good for the money, you used to be able to get them for £199 from Optics Warehouse, but I don't think that offer is still going. Somewhere else to look for advive is on twitchers web sites or forums, they like good clear binos just like hunters. Edited to add: I forgot to say, I hads a look through a pair of Leopolds recently and they were terrible, may just have been a bad pair, but they looked like new
