NathanM
Going to start to build my own NV setup. Does anyone know where I can get a 1/2" CCD camera, preferably in black and white? Thanks in advance!
mick miller
I used a 1/3 ccd for mine. If I could find the one I used I would post the link. Just go for the lowest lux camera you can find. Typically 0.001 or lower.
NathanM
Ok thanks Mick, I'll have a look for one of those!
NathanM
Mick, I'm thinking of this 200724504616, would this be ok, and could you recommend a 16mm lens for it? Does it have to be manual focus? Sorry for all the questions!
evo
get one of these works brill with my nv and is very low lux its also black and white KPC-S190SWX also if your fitting it onto the back of your scope then use the 12 mm lens not the 16mm and also it is better to have an adjustment for focus , the camera above is manual focus, have a look at my setup in this section hope this helps Evo Edited May 31, 2013 by evo
mick miller
What evo said. My camera is better than everything else I've seen or used but needs Iris control as well which complicates things. If you're happy with a 200 to 300 yard range what evo suggests works superbly. And yes, 12 mm not 16 mm. Edited May 31, 2013 by mick miller
NathanM
Thanks for the tips guys! Was thinking of this 151004755999 and this 150476295636, what do you think? Also is an auto iris lens better than a manual one? Thanks again!
evo
can I ask where and how are you going to mount the camera because if its going on the back of the scope then I would defo have manual,,because once it is set up you do not need to adjust anything,, with regards auto iris,,never used one so cant comment,,what sort of ranges are you gonna be shooting at ? because this will also dictate what camera and IR you will need
NathanM
I was going to mount it on the back of the scope with some silicone tubing, just checking, the lens I just posted is manual isn't it? Probably out to about 200 yards, but was going to get the xsearcher, and just see how far I could see out too! The board camera I posted was going to be mounted in one of the boxes that is readily available for it, and it looked pretty good at 0.0001 lux! evo
0.0001 lux you will find is a bit exaggerated on their behalf, did you have a look at the vid I did,, if you use the camera I said, you can fit it into a cable gland 20mm and fit the gland into the tubing, I would speak to mick regarding what torch to use as for the ranges your on about a 501b with an AHorton droppin and aspheric lens will suffice no problem with an oslon black IR. they are light and a very powerful torch once it had been modded Edited May 31, 2013 by evo
mick miller
You don't need iris control. You want low lux, fixed iris, adjustable focus 12mm lens f1.2 or nearest. Unless your ccd is super sensitive; it's unlikely to be as sensitive as is claimed.

NathanM
Mick, can you look on your eBay history to see which camera you ordered if its not too much trouble? Also Evo, I can't seem to find your bullet camera on the moreton alarms website, is it still there? Thanks in advance!
NathanM
Sorry Evo, just read your other thread, great set up! If the new camera you are using is better, could you point me in the right direction for that?
mick miller
EBay doesn't store a long enough history. That item is long gone, which is a bean ache as I'd like to put another together.
