dazzyboi
I have a set of browning ear defenders which are effective, but there too bulky and iv got a small head so i look like an idiot. Would rather get a set of ear plugs but a pair that are easy to get in and out, and dont poke out too much.

pin
For plugs I have used the "Sonic Valve" in the past and they do definitely work. They let you hear quite well but have a little percussion drum inside which closes when there is a sharp noise. People I have spoken to have said they are not rated for gunfire, mind they sell them for that purpose and I found them reasonable. http://www.shootingshack.com/index.asp?fun...p;productid=

I also heard that they were supposed to be revoked for use with guns...but I have a pair of Sonic Valve II's and they seem fine to me. Pardon?!?!? Certainly cheaper than custom made in ear electronic versions though.
30-6
If I use the Lanber I can get away with passive muff types, but on the Beretta they hit the stock so I use ones similar to Dazza, advertised as for swimming, just remember to clean your ears so as not to compact the wax, and wash them regular. I think that I have read in the past that one of the best for noise reduction are the squashy yellow ones that you roll in the fingers before using then throw them away as they are cheap. But saying all that, back in May an ENT specialist told me that there is not a ear plug/muff on the market adequate enough for gunfire as sound can transmit through bone to enter your ear and cause damage. True story - Once worked with a storeman who was complaining that a dog in his street always came up snarling at him when he walked by. Another storeman told him to rub his finger in his ear as dogs hated the smell of ear wax, and point at the dog. Three days later he came in with a bandage on his hand. Oly
HAs anyone else heard that the Sonic Valves have been revoked as being "safe" for use with guns? They seem fine to me...but what do I know! It would be nice to have a little more piece of mind!
Browning GTS
You cannot be to careful with the old ear holes. If you want ear pugs get the moulded ones like Green Leopard. www.greenleopard.co.uk These are not cheap but you know they fit well and will not let you down. If you feel really rich you could get the electronic inserts

Hodmedod.one
These are the ones I use http://www.allearplugs.com/AEP4/Hear-Plugs...e-(x1-pair).htm I tried this type but found pushing the string down one ear and pulling it out of the other ear was quite painful  Sorry
