aister
Could anyone recommend me a mincer? Been thinking about it for a while and I think the time has come now that BBQ season is here. Preferably a mincer with a sausage attachment too. Thanks in advance. James.

kenj
I use an Elpine 1200W 31302c meat grinder, which has three sized cutters, a sausage attachment and a kibbe attachment (whatever that is?). Powerful and quiet for less than£40 on't internet.
aris
I use this one. It is a beast. http://www.northerntooluk.com/food-preparation/electric-meat-grinders/230v-stainless-steel-meat-grinder_168632E.html
henry d
Sausage attachments are in the main useless, get a proper stuffer and save yourself the grief.
aris
Sausage attachments are in the main useless, get a proper stuffer and save yourself the grief. Very much so. If you are doing large-ish quantities, then a meat mixer is also handy, but not absolutely necessary.
misser
also thought about getting one - might be a stupid question but will a mincer handle the odd steel shot or will it knacker it thanks ps - apologies aister for asking a question on your thread
aris
It probably won't knacker the mincer, but it may well knacker the plate or most probably the knife inside the mincer. Not totally knacker it, but it may chip or dull the knife. Again, shot being round it may well slip through unscathed. Plates and knives are replaceable though - almost a consumable part for a mincer. You could invest in a small metal detector :-)
rtaylor
I bought one like this http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Meat-Grinder-1200W-Stainless-Steel-Electric-Mincer-Sausage-Maker-Filler-SILVER-/230893174743?pt=UK_HGKitchen_SmallApp_RL&hash=item35c24e3fd7 a year ago and it's pretty good for the price. The mincer bit wobbles around a bit when you put a big bit through but it hasn't died so far. The sausage attachment is ok. I have done some decent sausages with it. I bought it to reduce the wastage on a venison carcass.
rtaylor
Also if you're going to burgers I got a kitchen craft burger press the other week and they are much better than squeezing them by hand. Stay together better.
