Have recently bought a new Browning B525 very pleased with the gun apart from the stock is to long for me as am only small 5'7" so short arms. I have compared the length of stock to a cheap knock about gun I got that feels perfect and have good results shooting with and my new guns stock is well over one inch longer. Will ring gunsmith I bought the gun off and see if he has a facility for taking an inch off it for me if he does what price do gunsmiths normally charge it's a basic model I got so no fancy wood what should I expect to pay and can they normally fit original but plate on any advice on matter would be a help.

Yes done a hundred clays the stock is definitely to long it is getting in the way when am trying to mount just been comparing it to my other knock about gun and the other feels so much better I actually feel part of the gun. Withthe B525 the whole gun feels to long.

No it's definitely too long had a Mk60 game 28" before this and that felt great too that seemed a lot shorter too. When am holding gun up my cheekbone seems miles away from base of thumb have been watching some you tube videos on length of pull and different ways to measure it and the stock is definitely too long. £50 to £60 seems reasonable.

Got it from Mckavoys up near chorley noticed your not to far where about do you go for guns etc

I'm from sunny southport and I use malmo guns near Lancaster http://www.malmoguns.com/Welcome.html , yes it's an hour away from my house bu it's worth the journey to see the vast array of guns they have , a very friendly family run business . I got my first gun from there just over a year ago 725 sporter :) I use cheddite cartridges and malmos are the closest for me been using them since I started so I'll stick with them :good:

A lad I know uses them a lot he gets rifles from them he said they are good. Will try Mckavoys first as its closer for me and I bought the gun from them so will hope to get a decent service. My sister lives in Birkdale I know southport well. Will call them tomorrow and see if they can arrange to do it for me. Will let you know how I get on. Willpoon I have a contact number for a man who sells cartridges cheaper than you can get from gunsmiths he is based in Prescot will send you a pm with his number on tomorrow he only opens Thursday Friday and Sat tho may be of use you can ring and get a price it's closer than Lancaster and he might save you a few quid.

Is it worth getting someone at the clay club to check you mount and sighting with the new gun? As welshwarrior said, it may not be the gun that is too long and in fact it's what your used too telling you it's too long. I would say just make absolutely sure your getting the minimum cut off if you do need some taken off.

I'm in agreement with rtaylor and welsh warrior an inch is a lot to remove so be sure before you do it as it will drastically affect the value of the gun.

Had a visit to gunsmiths today. My old Miroku MK60 was still in there so the gentlemen got it out for me and measured the two properly. The Browning had a longer stock but as advised by the people above an inch would have been to much to remove however 3/4 inch is what I need maximum so that is what I have gone for. I was surprised that such a small amount could change how the gun felt that drastically. The gunsmith said that the Browning stocks are relatively long when new as it allows for everyone then if its to long you can simply get it shortened. Hopefully when I get it back will fit fine cost around £40 and he will fit original butt plate.
