Paddy Galore!
just been looking on the bay of e for a plaster mixer, i don't need an expensive one but it does need to be half decent. I could also do with a long reach drywall sander. What would the PW plastering massive recommend?
Wiltsmark
Checkout Belmore tools, they have both on there website, I think they are up your way. nI my opinion the porter cable sanders are the best (spin faster) but the Flex ones are good also. Paddy Galore!
just buy a whisk head and a old drill for now if youre not plastering all the time mate plenty on the bay that's what i've got at the moment bud, the problem is i need to make up a good sized tub at a time and the drill can't really handle it, i keep finding lumps in the mixture so i thought i'd upgrade slightly and get a bigger mixer with a bigger paddle. the sander is mainly for patched and jointed ceilings, i can't plaster upside down very well, i've got a leaky aortic valve and a collapsing pulse that's my excuse anyway and i'm sticking to it
pegleg31
I've a few, got a cheap sparky one that I bought when a mate used my makita one and had it longer than expected. It's not bad but the makita one has more power. e Edit: how are you patching your ceilings? (ie: plastering up to the original edge or floating past it and feathering it in). And how are you jointing your ceilings? Russ Edited July 25, 2013 by pegleg31

(ie: plastering up to the original edge or floating past it and feathering it in). And how are you jointing your ceilings? Russ hi Russ, i've got an old bosch drill which seems pretty much indestructible which i use for mixing at the moment. as for patching ceilings it really depends on what 's up there already, a lot of the council properties we work on are lathe and plaster, so we either strip the lot and tape& joint the new one with feather edge board or just patch up the damage with easy fill. the later built homes, especially the flats are usually normal plaster over concrete and aren't normally damaged to the degree that they need new plaster. gents, thanks very much for your input, i'm going down to belmores monday to pick up one of those bladed paddles and a sanding disc doodah, along with some decent tubs to batch up in. the electric sander will have to wait a bit, i've seen some cheapies on the bay for under a ton but i'm loathe to buy one as i know i'll break it in under a week. cheers, Paddy!
