Pinkella
Fools and liars fall in the same bracket in my opinion. Honesty is the best policy. As for getting het up, its not my time of the month yet!
aris
One of the reasons I never pay builders in cash. Taxman never sees their share. Eventually, I end up paying his tax when PAYE is increased. That is how Greece got ino trouble.
karpman
Will get to the point when folks, honest folks anyhow will starting charging for cash. When we sell a car and someone rolls in for 6 grand in cash it's a pain in the back side in all honesty. Karpman
Pinkella
aris that's fair enough, but not all business people are so dis honest even more so in this day and age, knowing how powerful the taxman is. Also with this current economical climate, most businesses need every penny to go back into the business anyhow. I always give a receipt with all my transactions. Karpman can you still except cash then in those quantities for a sale?

It has to be counted and pretty sure we get charged a handling charge at the bank for large quantities. Plastics suits us fine to be honest Karpman
turbo33
As a business you get charged by the bank for paying in cheques and cash...... :(
Pinkella
aris if I answered yes, then I'm contradicting myself and I don't do that if your question is genuine then I apologise, but I suspect not? I always offer discounts on multiple purchases as any one would! cash ,cheque, card, paypal and so on, it will be the same price. I wont accept a cheque at a game fair, had one too many bounce. Pinkella
I guess its a standard handling charge for accepting money at the banks, who wants to touch money anyway! its one of the most unhygienic items along with our laptops. LondonLuke
Taking large amounts of cash (or getting money out as cash) is so expensive that I avoid it as much as possible.

You have to ask yourself then - if the handling costs are similar, why would someone offer a discount for cash over card?
Kes
For a game fair, I take both but personally prefer a debit card. I keep credit cards merely for keeping up a credit rating and hardly ever use them. Perhaps the good credit rating which has resulted is why I keep being asked if I'd like 30K to spend. Dont owe anyone anything and will always keep it this way.
Pinkella
You have to ask yourself then - if the handling costs are similar, why would someone offer a discount for cash over card? aris its about having a deal, the customer needs to feel they have had a good deal and like to haggle, cash is the traditional bartering tool used for said transactions. Just because cash is changing hands, it dose not always mean the tax person will not be informed. Yes I / we know people still do not always declare all their earnings and ebayer's are as guilty as anyone! hence why ebay are clamping down and now have! to give what information the Tax person asks for. aris if you really want to catch me out, come along to a Stoneleigh this weekend and offer me a cash price on something and you will see if you do or don't get a receipt! only problem for you is, if that's you in your profile picture, I might not give you a discount because I'll know who you are
