missmoreandmaster
Hi guys I have just got myself a Acme(black) caller to try to callin some of the crows that I hear around the farm I shoot in cambridgeshire but only see the od ones and twos now and again , I've got 6 fud crows, and several full body plastic Non flocked decoys that I will spray mat with blackboard paint . What in your opinion would be the best way to setup and in what sort of areas i.e. by woods. over stubble(when cut) grass etc. Thanks for your help Martin
steve_b_wales
Hi Martin. The ACME caller is more suited for Jackdaw's, owing to it's higher pitch. The best caller for Crows is a Primos Power Crow call, which retails around £11.00. Don't place the decoys too close to the woods, and leave some gaps around 3ft between each decoy. I have found that the more decoys you place, the better chance you have of attracting the birds. Use the dead ones as decoys by placing some bamboo cane(14") inserted through the bird's rear, into the head/beak, and place the remaining cane into the ground. Corvid shooting ranks as my favourite> Good luck in getting them.
eccles
Hi Martin Stubble or grass if you have got stubble it will pull the crows a bit easier. I hardly ever use a caller and i shoot my fair share of crows bud. All you need is a good back ground for your hide slap out some decoys and off you go. atb Terry
the pigeon man
Decoys and bouncers is all you need I get my fair share of crows by just using them
caeser
I always like a crow on the battery powered flapper. (Not a turbo flapper though otherwise it might look rediculous.) That works a treat for me, when crow bashing.
