JDog
The barley was harvested last week on this particular field and I watched in last weekend morning and evening whilst shooting elsewhere. On Monday evening I saw a good line in, the same on Tuesday and when I went on Wednesday evening the dreaded cultivator was doing it's worst. This morning at 8am the field was being rolled!!!! This afternoon I took my chance and had another look. Despite the upheaval there were two good lines in and I set up under one of them with birds coming in from behind. It was perfect decoying weather, fine with a decent breeze. The birds were wary and skirted the outer arc of the pattern at first. Once I took away those decoys the pigeons came in much better. I picked 47 and I must say I really enjoyed myself. On the way home I called in to see the farm foreman who was on his combine and he told me that the field would be recultivated tomorrow and drilled with stubble turnips. Had I not taken my chance today shooting in that field would have been lost. Edited August 8, 2013 by JDog
