Gordon R
Decent chokes and cheap. Carlson are "Open Season". http://www.breconretail.co.uk/open-season-chokes-and-accessories-27-c.asp
Kes
What are waterfowl chokes - dont you shoot them with ordinary fixed chokes? Chokey mania is obviously big business but slowly driving me nuts - get a life without flexible, add on, waterfowl, ported, semi chromed or are they, 'make up for bad shooting' chokes. Isnt it all a bit like blowing down the barrels and scratching bits of your anatomy ?

Big Mat
What are waterfowl chokes - dont you shoot them with ordinary fixed chokes? Chokey mania is obviously big business but slowly driving me nuts - get a life without flexible, add on, waterfowl, ported, semi chromed or are they, 'make up for bad shooting' chokes. Isnt it all a bit like blowing down the barrels and scratching bits of your anatomy ? They are called waterfowl chokes, that is their name, i put it there some people who have purchased or know about them know what i'm on about. I shoot both fixed and multi choke guns, now if i want to experiment with other chokes it up to me. May i suggest my life is perfectly fine without your interference. It has got nothing to do with whatever you are on about. They are meant to be good for getting good patterns with big loads of large steel shot, thats what i'm interested in. Getting the best combination that works for me. Having patterned some steel loads with my current chokes, i can see why people go for other chokes and thus i wish to experiment with them. Now if you don't like it, then don't bother looking at anything to do with them.
Kes
I would not wish to interfere in your life. I seriously question the need for the proliferation of different chokes for so many different purposes. The culture of buying different chokes for everything doesn't help the shooter who needs to focus on his stance, swing, head position etc. I have to say I dont find the advice of anything up to half choke for steel a problem and, naturally for wildfowling I use the 3 and a 1/2 magnum with steel proof chokes. Both guns are berettas and pattern well with all types of shot at the ranges I find suitable to shoot at. How different can a choke be at the minor diametric differences we are talking ? Has anyone done a scientific assessment of these multifarious chokes - if we were talking actual guns, we would know what made a difference and at what price. Dont bother about my comments Mat they are not intended specifically for you but shooters in general as I think we are all being taken for a slight ride.
