malkiserow
Inspired by Activeiii, I made these shooting sticks from the thinest B+Q garden canes which are poly coated aluminum tubes. Very lightweight which is exactly what I wanted. I turned up some tops and same section feet to give somewhere meaty to put the bolts through (not cut flush yet on the feet) The added wood gives the height over the standard cane (the thicker canes are taller). And gives a nice support for any good stocks etc. The bolt in the top is let in flush and the feet... activeviii
You flash get.lol. If you can, stick a second washer on, gives it a better bearing service and will help stop wood wear hehe. If you really want to get it a little better, inside leg longer than outside ir they act like chopsticks and you get them stuck more. Very tidy job though Malk. Hows the torches, do they need adjusting or you like them the way they are. I have more but there stuck in customs and royal mail. i think i have 16 spare red led torches at the moment. out of the batch of 50. I'd say your T20 modified visible red torches are the perfect lamping torch. Those 16 won't be around long........ Glad I bought 2!!!!!,
The Essex Hunter
Very nice bit of turning…. I like the tops but from experience I have found even using my sticks with the point on the end they skid on hard ground. If I guess right they will be faced off and flat…a second spreader cord will stop that, however achieving different heights is hampered using 2 cords. activeviii
Not had a problem with them sliding yet. On snow and ice they hold well. Maybe I have just been lucky. I have cut mine in half and the made sockets to plug them back together. Makes it easier to get in motor.
sandgrounder
I use these: Quad sticks at £40 a set. Easy t use and they close together completely giving a walking staff feel to them.
mick miller
I'm with camokid, use o rings at the top held apart with a short section of tube rather than a fixed bolt. This allows the tops to flex, you can pan around with the rifle without stressing the joint on the tubes. You also have to move the sticks a great deal less of you're placement is slightly off initially. Also, at the base, one leg on either side needs to be longer than the other so that there is only a single point of contact. Nice turning on the legs and feet, are you open to orders lol! They look damn fine.
mick miller
Ah! One of your tops also needs to be shorter than the other three, otherwise you won't be able to get your chin on the stock. Nice first try though, now back to the shed for more fettling...
