Ferretboy111
Hey guys Am planning on going for an open license on my firearms. Anyone know the best way to go about it? I've been told to get a couple of people who have seen me shoot to write in and maybe a few land owners? Thanks A
steve_b_wales
In my area, it depends on how long you have held an FAC /used a rifle, and also how much ammunition you have purchased/used. It also helps if you have more than one permission. Asking people who have seen you shoot would not make any difference with our police force. stubby
I got my open cert on first application, I showed good knowledge of safe backstops, plus a data base of paying customers that wanted rabbits cleared from gardens, I also had certification from bisley on safe use of guns, only little things, but they all mount up
CharlieT
At the end of the day it comes down to your own licensing department's policy. Some will not consider it before first renewal, some not before 3 years and some if you push them. Why not speak to your firearms licensing manager and explain your situation and outline your reasons. I find building a good relationship with the "boss" works wonders.
