Out on wheat stubble

Well I'm currently sat in the hedgerow on a huge field of wheat stubble, 18 decoys out, plenty of pigeons about. Only one has decoyed so far and he is now sat on the flapper doing his best to entice all his friends down from the trees on the otherside of the field. But as they are just sat about at the minute I thought I'd see if anyone else has noticed that they are feeding mid-late afternoon as yesterday around 5 when I had a look at this field there was a good 100 on the field and easily another 50 crows, but as yet the numbers haven't arrived

Yes. mid-late afternoon has been less bad, but still a struggle....

And I don't have the modern communication stuff to keep me busy so I try to study bird behavoir instead. (doesn't get me far!) It seems they will only go in where there are lots of scattered, feeding birds. How the 1st one gets in I don't know.

NB Has anyone used those 3-way feeding-birds rotary decoy machine things?? Not the magnet but birds moving on the ground. Any good???

It's still early yet. Stay out in the hot sun with flies buzzing and other creepy crawlies going down you shirt until they start flighting.

But it's warm but cloudy here today jdog, no hot sun since 10am here with rain due at 7pm

Have seen a few heading to a field 2-3 down from this one but I can't shoot that one

Ended up with 12 pigeons and a crow for my efforts today although a bird of prey decided I was only getting 11 as it swooped down and took one from the stubble, now I'm stumped as to what kind it was, it looked quite large and had a pale head, everywhere else was brown and for the life of me can't think of anything I know we have that's similar in looks
