Daany
I Don't bover with sit before the delivery, most handles who trial will take the bird first so it's less chance off it dropping it, then when the bird is in your hand bring the dog around to heal, then hand it to the judge, as long as I have the bird is in my hand and my dog is at heal steady then ain't much to go wrong
barraboy
I like mine to hold it until I'm ready to take it, sit is preferred but I can live without it, then I can reload etc at my leisure and take the bird and put it in the game bag when I'm good and ready. fenboy
I really cannot see the importance on the dog sitting on a retrieve and it can present it laying on its back as far as I am concerned , the fact its marked it and retrieved it when sent is enough. kent
No I don't there are places were your dog is unlikely to sit to deliver anyhow.
WGD
I normally train it with dummies as the dog matures but don't insist on it with an older, experienced dog.
