Bluebarrels
Always get Canada's dropping onto the stubbles where I shoot,so thought I would knock a few deeks up to get them into range knocked these up this morning, look convincing enough to me but what do all you chap's think sensible replys only please, made 3 feeding birds and 1 sentry, all made from bits outta the shed,so cost me nothing You have to imagine them on stubble's etc BB (post edited ,more detail on deeks now) Edited August 30, 2013 by Bluebarrels
happy.plinker
Except for colour they're near identical to my Greylags, made six of them and use them among fuds and sillos,I face them different ways. They will work ok. What pattern roughly do you use ?
turbo33
Look good BB I think some light brown/ fawn paint on the bodies and maybe a little work with a black permanent marker to make out some feather detail.

kent
Look good BB I think some light brown/ fawn paint on the bodies and maybe a little work with a black permanent marker to make out some feather detail. Look at the white BUM with BLACK tail over it. Then the dark/buff wings, that fold over the birds back (giving continuous dark over light shading TOP to bottom). The head/neck and the pied bum are essential recognition signals IMO. a quick re-paint of these and you will have some good Deeks, although painted black all over will work as pure "shape recognition" The stick on google eyes look comic but the Canada has a black eye that effectively blends into the black head visually, so I don't bother with eyes (one they get that close they are stood among them) Edited August 30, 2013 by kent
Bluebarrels
Cheers mate like I said work in progress, will get the marker pen out later atb BB Yep I was wondering if to use the eyes or just leave the heads black This aint a major art project though, i'm simply after a goosey shape to pull them into the same field, without having to fork out for FB deeks which will sit around for the best part of the year BB And if they don't work they will be re-cycled as targets so nothing is lost Edited August 30, 2013 by Bluebarrels

The better you make them the less chance of birds spooking. Been refurbing deeks and making some more silhouettes myself over last couple days. I should be tempted to just paint all that is not already black or white a muddy buff and remove the eyes and you will have some very serviceable deeks with no need to shoot them up
